LDA Approves Tallest Building in Lahore
Lahore is not only the most densely populated city of Pakistan but it is also a landlocked city. On one side Lahore City’s expansion is checked by River Ravi whereas on other side by BRB Canal. The horizontal expansion of Lahore has come to a halt so only way to expand is vertically. Therefore in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, LDA approves tallest building in Lahore.
The tallest building will be constructed on a lot or plot of size of 44 Kanal. The building will be 500 feet tall. Orient Group will finance and construct this skyscraper in Lahore. Local administration and 1122 team will be responsible for the fire security measure of the site. The construction of this skyscraper in Lahore will set a pattern of high-rise construction in Lahore.
Advantages of High-rise buildings in Lahore
Recently Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed his vision to expand major cities of Pakistan vertically on the same line as mega cities in the world have been developed. High rise construction has many advantages. Firstly vertical cities have efficient transportation facilities because they are built on a small land area. Secondly high rise construction provides valuable space that can be utilized for schools, hospitals, parks, grounds and other developments. Thirdly, vertical cities also help in saving the agricultural land.
Some earlier steps for high rise construction in Lahore
The government of Punjab had already planned to go vertical. LDA has made plans to demolish Wahdat Colony to build high-rise apartments. The plan was made because land is very limited in Lahore city and only way to expand is vertically. The expansion of Lahore has already absorbed not only agricultural land but also many nearby villages, towns and cities. But vertical expansion will solve many issues.
