CAR FREE PAKISTAN; Car usage and its problems in Pakistan
In the last decade the usage of cars has tremendously increased in Pakistan, which in turn has increased the traffic on roads. This increase in traffic is causing many problems like traffic jams and high level of air pollution. Traffic jams are causing the delays, as they make journey uncomfortable. Whereas, pollution is damaging our environment and temperature is rising. Pollution is also the reason of many diseases in Pakistan. People living in the cities have Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD), Lung Cancer and Heart diseases due to the high pollution level. Lets discuss about car free Pakistan.
Reasons of using own cars in Pakistan
Pakistan has public transportation system in form of buses, wagons, Taxis and Rickshaws. Private taxis and Rickshaws are expensive. Whereas, buses and wagons are not in good condition and also do not cover the all city routes. Due to these problems in Pakistan, people mostly rely on own vehicles rather than using the public transportation.
Pakistan needs modern transportation system to reduce the usage of cars
Pakistan just needs the modern transportation system in form of metro buses & trains. Metro bus services have started in Lahore and Islamabad. But these services are not covering the all city routes. These metro bus services should be started in the all major cities of Pakistan and we need to make sure that all city routes are covered by these services. Modern transportation system in Pakistan will reduce the usage of cars.
Advantages of going car-free
Metro buses & trains will provide the efficient and modern transportation system for the large population in Pakistan. This will help to reduce the road traffic. Less traffic on road means less air pollution, less traffic jams, less fuel consumption and disease-free cities in Pakistan. Car-free cities are important for the Sustainable Development in Pakistan.
