We need more green areas in our cities

We need more green areas in our cities

The fast urbanization in Pakistan is eating up the green areas. Once our cities were decorated with the beautiful trees, but widening of roads and fast commercialization has consumed the green areas. Now our cities look like concrete jungles. This is not that we don’t need commercial areas or other infrastructure developments, but at the same time we also need green areas in our cities. Open green areas have the following advantages;

Green areas serve as the lungs for cities

Cities have higher pollution level than towns & villages due to large number of vehicles and industries. Green areas within cities serve as the lungs that consume carbon dioxide and release fresh air. Green areas always result in purifying the air and reducing pollution in the cities. Therefore open green areas and trees are required for clean air.

Green areas control urban floods

Paved areas cannot absorb rain water, which always results in urban floods with many problems. Water accumulated in streets cause’s transportation issues and diseases. On the other hand, open green areas can easily absorb the rain water. Green areas not only absorb the rainy water but also use this water for the growth of plants, grass and trees.

Green areas reduce the temperature

Open green areas result in consuming carbon dioxide. High level of gas emission from factories and vehicles results in increasing the temperature. On the other hand, green areas consume carbon dioxide and reduction of it reduces the temperature. Therefore open green areas are needed in cities to control high temperature.

Recreational facilities

Open green areas serve as platforms for social gathering and physical activities. Open green areas provide play land for children, sports grounds for the young people and walking space for the old people. Open spaces always provide recreational facilities that consume human energies and reduce frustration / tension.

Some good initiatives in Pakistan

Greater Iqbal Park Lahore is the right step to provide green areas in city centers. Greater Iqbal Park has provided the recreation area, greenery and ample parking space. We just need to start such projects in all urban areas of Pakistan. Billion trees movement in KPK was another marvelous initiative for better & greener Pakistan. What we need is to make laws that restrict and limit the green areas in cities. We should make it compulsory to have at least 20% green areas in our cities. This way we can provide green living for the people who are living in urban areas.

Many thanks for sharing great blog

      MY UNDERSTANDING ABOUT WORLD ECONOMY
BANKERS are controlling the world economy
In western countries they have issued Credit Cards and people are living beyond their means

TRUMP IS WISEST PRESIDENT IN HISTORY OF USA.
      WHY TRUMP?
AS ONLY HE KNOWS THAT AMERICANS HAVE LIVED BEYOND THEIR MEANS AND TO FIX USA ECONOMY IS IMPOSSIBLE.
THIS IS WHY TRUMP IS BUSY WITH SELFIE GIRLS AND JUST CHILLING EVERYTHING WITH LOT OF MOCKING AND STUPID REMARKS AS HE KNOWS THAT NO ONE CAN FIX AMERICAN CRUMBLING ECONOMY. CRASH IS IMMINENT
WATCH THE TIME APRIL – OCTOBER, RIDE WILL BE BUMPY FOR AMERICANS AND WESTERN COUNTRIES AND CHINA IS NEARING GOLD PRICE FIX

People say Pakistan cannot payback 75 billion dollar as loan which is no more than 35% GDP
      OK
Then how will USA pay back its debt when Internal + external debt is more than 200% and 2000% liabilities in form of pension and other benefits

      CHINA THE ONLY STRONG NATION
Unfortunately IMF couldn’t control China and Iran and Now both will control IMF especially CHINA
IMF has even issued loans to Saudi Arabia and Arab Countries

CHINA has approximately 30% internal + external debts and its fast decreasing

      ACCORDING TO MY UNDERSTANDING

People who think that 21st century is the century of freedom; are living in the paradise of fools.
21ST CENTURY HAS SEEN BIGGEST SLAVES IN HUMAN HISTORY

      1- DEBT SLAVERY
      2- RENT SLAVERY

      MY VIEWS ABOUT PROPERTY

Many people will disagree with me but what I think about property / housing.

Life is a process, not a single day event
Same is true with housing or home ownership

First we should buy house according to our budget, it might be smallest and might be cheapest
      Then starts the up-gradation process
With the passage of time we should up size our home or should move to better expensive area
This way we can get a decent home

What we have to do for our cities, everybody knows, but nobody discuss, how to achieve these milestones.
Everybody knows that we need more green areas for our cities. But is it possible during the current era of capitalist society. The builders want to maximize their profits so how they can spare land for green areas.
Black money is being parked in real estate and government is introducing amnesty scheme for black money holders.
K electric have taken out 62 billion rupees illegally from karachiites pocket through electricity bills and nobody is speaking in favor of people.
In this scenario, if anybody think that we can increase green areas of our cities then s/he is living in fool paradise.

Good piece of writing and thanks for sharing
Yes property sector ad property prices are artificially high due to black money
We are now in bubble territory
A crackdown by COURTS on corruption, money laundering and black money will bust the bubble to record low and prices will be stagnant till 2025.
Next few months are very interesting indeed.

There is only hope in Judicatory
          Yes
Otherwise like western countries where properties are controlled by BANKS, Pakistan properties are controlled by black money mafia
I fully agree that in current situation, honest person cannot buy a home.

      PAKISTAN PROPERTY MARKET SITUATION

      Pakistan property sector is stagnant. Reasons are;
      1- Political uncertainty
      2- Confusion about amnesty schemes
3- Higher taxes on property transactions

Asking prices are increasing but actual sale price is lower.
Realtors are receiving calls but no sales. Buyers are getting information and are looking for properties to buy at investors rates / low rates.

Price fall will effect the societies where prices are abnormally high like DHA, Bahria
If you are looking for property in Gulberg, Ghouri Town you can buy it as price fall will be less in these societies as prices are already reasonable as compared to other areas.

Informative blog. Pakistani cities are less greater than western countries who are trying hard to reduce carbon and make cities more greener.

Not everyone wants to live in high rise buildings. A locality can be made greener by following careful planning and plantations.

          Valid point
But there is some serious problem
We have failed to provide facilities in our towns and villages
Due to this our cities population is overgrown
Our cities have grown too in sizes
Large city size is big hurdle to provide basic infrastructure
The only solution we have now is the high rise construction

In short, high population like Mumbai and Hong Kong is forcing our cities to go high rise.
